Terms of Service
Effective July 30, 2026
By installing or using Sift, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
Purpose and permitted use
Sift is a disk space analysis and file review utility. You may use it to scan folders you are authorized to access, search the resulting local index, review possible duplicates, and move selected items to the Recycle Bin. You are responsible for ensuring you have permission to inspect or manage the selected files.
Your decisions and backups
You remain responsible for every cleanup choice. Review file paths and duplicate verification results before moving anything. Although Sift sends items to the Recycle Bin rather than permanently deleting them, recovery is not guaranteed if the Recycle Bin is unavailable, disabled, emptied, or limited by system policy. Keep appropriate backups of important data.
Duplicate verification
Candidate groups based on matching names and sizes are suggestions, not proof. Sift only identifies files as content matches after verification. You should still confirm that the selected copy is the one you want to keep.
Availability and updates
We may improve, change, suspend, or discontinue features. Compatibility can vary with Windows versions, storage devices, permissions, disconnected drives, protected folders, and third-party system policies.
Acceptable use
You may not misuse Sift, attempt to bypass access controls, use it to inspect data without authorization, interfere with the application or Microsoft Store distribution, or reverse engineer it except where applicable law expressly permits.
Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sift is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free results, fitness for a particular purpose, or guaranteed file recovery.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business arising from use of Sift. Rights that cannot legally be limited remain unaffected.
Microsoft Store terms
Your acquisition and use of Sift may also be subject to Microsoft Store terms. Where those terms conflict with these terms, mandatory Microsoft Store terms apply to the extent required.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect application changes or legal requirements. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
